The pvc pipe is the handgrip and center of each dumbbell. The weights are attached to the pvc and anchored by cross-bolts through the pvc pipe.
The pvc pipe is in 2 pieces, one slightly larger diameter so it slides over the other.
This way, you may the two weight ends of the dumbbell separately, then slide one into the other, after coating it with pvc cement.
In this step we make an initial set of cuts, just approximate. We will measure and cut them again after we put them in the concrete, weight them and can make a precise cut.
So we want the smaller diameter piece of pipe to be the longer piece, the main handle. That means, depending upon the thickness of the weights your are making, we need a piece that provide 6 inches for the handgrip, plus the depth that will be sunk into the cement.
Cut a piece of the narrow that is 15 inches long.
The wider PVC pipe is the insert piece that needs to be just as long as the depth of the concrete in the mold.
Cut a piece of the wider pipe that is 5 inches long
