Step 4 - Attaching the first bracket

Using a power drill with a drill bit the same diameter as the bolts and long enough to go all the way through the wood, drill your first hole so the bottom of the bracket is at the height you need (typically about shoulder height).

If there are multiple people of substantially different heights who will be using the rack, you will need to attach a couple of brackets at heights appropriate to each person.

Get the first bracket in and loosely screw on the washers and nuts.

Steps

  1. Dig the post holes
  2. Mix the concrete and level the 4x4's
  3. Bend the brackets
  4. Attach the first bracket
  5. Determine level and attach the second bracket
  6. Cut grooves / channel for chin-up bar on top of each 4x4.
  7. Bolt down chin-up bar
  8. Support braces and weight holders (optional)
